The foundation stone was laid in Haifa in 1912 and the training of the first engineers began in 1924, 24 years before the state of Israel was founded. The university, which was named the Technical University when the State of Israel was founded, opened an incubator for spin-offs at an early stage, which developed ideas and inventions from Technion scientists to product maturity. The deputies comprise the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/executive-vice-president-for-innovation-and-industry-relations\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Executive Vice President for Innovation and Industry Relations<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/technion-president-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senior <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/svpr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Vice <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/technion-president-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">President<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/executive-vice-president-for-research-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Vice President for Research<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/executive-vice-president-for-academic-affairs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/technion-executive-vice-president-director-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Vice President &amp; Director General<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/vice-president-for-external-relations-and-resource-development\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vice President for External Relations and Resource Development<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/vice-president-diversity-inclusion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<p>The President is elected for a term of five years, the term of office of the Vice Presidents is three years. <\/p>\n\n<p>The most important decision-making body of the Technion is the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/board-of-governors\/\" target=\"_blank\">Board of Governors (BoG)<\/a>, to which representatives of the German Technion Society are also regularly elected. The term of office for delegates is three years and can be extended in the event of re-election. The public meeting of the BoG takes place once a year, mainly in June. In addition to the Chairman of the Board of Governors, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.technion.ac.il\/en\/technion-council-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">members of the Technion Council<\/a> are exclusively Israeli personalities and scientists from the university.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Technion was founded at a time when young Jewish people in Europe could not study without hindrance.
