At the opening of the Board of Governors, on June 10, 2022, Technion President Prof. Uri Sivan and the Chairman of the Board of the Zimin Foundation signed the sponsorship and operation of a new institute. With the help of the new facility, new solution concepts are to be developed in the healthcare sector using artificial intelligence. The “Zimin Institute for AI Solutions in Healthcare” will be headed by medical scientist Prof. Shai Shen-Orr, who is known in Germany for his collaboration with the Medical University of Göttingen. His research specializes in the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. The new institute will be part of the “Technion Human Health Initiative” launched by President Sivan two years ago.
